Andrew Jarl Ottesen

Andrew Jarl Ottesen age 69 passed away unexpectedly at his favorite place, his barn, on July 30th 2026. Andy was born on November 18th 1956 in Payson, Utah to Jarl and Shirley Ottesen. He was raised in Salem and lived out his life in his home town.

He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1975 and hired on to the Union Pacific Railroad shortly after graduation where he retired 40 years later. He married his high school sweetheart Rexine (Rosebud) Evan’s December 29th 1976. This December would have been their 50th wedding Anniversary. Together Andy and Rexine had 3 kids, Hollie, Casey and Magan. Andy loved his kids and taught them so many valuable things through the years. He had many hobbies that he shared with his kids like farming, snowmobiling, musical talents, riding horses, taking care of animals and riding side by sides up to tower mountain and so many more. Later through the years he had 5 grandkids that he loved fiercely. He passed along his hobbies and talents to them just like he did his kids.

Andy loved farming and being at his barn more than anything. He passed along his farming talents to his son Casey who helped him on the farm always. There wasn’t a time that you could go to the barn and he wouldn’t have one of his close friends visiting. There wasn’t one person that didn’t love Andy and think he was the best guy.

Andy was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Farmer Andy struggled with the disease of alcoholism, a battle that ultimately claimed his life. He was a a proud member of the New Life Group of Alcoholics Anonymous where he served in every service position the group offered. Through his own recovery he carried the message of hope to others including his daughter Magan, a gift that helped save her life. The friendships he found there meant so much to him. Ghost Whisperer, Snow White and Cool Hand Luke were just a few of the many people who became like family. We now know why he gave you three nicknames.

Andy is survived by Spouse Rexine Ottesen, Of Salem, Daughter Hollie (Russell) Jorgensen, Genola, Son Casey Ottesen, Salem, Daughter Magan (Ben) Eaton, Benjamin, Grandkids Alyssa (Jaiden) Lance, Santaquin, Jaydee Jorgensen, Mona Sami Jorgensen, Genola, Evan Eaton, Benjamin and Skye Eaton, Benjamin, Mother In Law Bevalene Evans, Payson, Sisters Jarleen (Doug) Bowen, Salem, Syrie (Steve) Farley, Salem,and Liz Smith, Spanish Fork.

Friends And family are invited to join together for a Graveside Service on Friday, August 7th, at 11:00 A.M. at the Salem Cemetery.
