Desmond “Des” Perkins II, lovingly known as “Grandpa Roo,” passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, surrounded by family, in Magna, Utah, at the age of 67. He was born on April 8, 1958, in Pocatello, Idaho, to the late Desmond Perkins and Patricia Denton.
Des was a loyal husband to Katheryn Dean and a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his children: Sadie Knutsen and her husband Cory, Desi Perkins and his wife Heather, Tyson Perkins and his wife Nataja, Zac Perkins and his wife Tristan. He also leaves behind 15 cherished grandchildren and two beloved great-grandchildren. Des was preceded in death by his sisters, Debra Perkins and Darla Bernhard, his grandson Riley Perkins and is survived by his sisters Nikki Wall and Vicki Pasqua.
A true original, Des was known for his big heart, quick wit, and love of life. In his lifetime he found joy riding his Harley, coaching little league, a good snow for skiing and telling wild, unforgettable jokes. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A hardworking man with a generous spirit, Des touched the lives of many.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025. Family and close friends are invited to remember and honor a man who gave so much and asked for so little.
