1958 Dewey 2024

Dewey Dean Lund

October 23, 1958 — May 10, 2024

Dewey Dean Lund, father, grandfather, esteemed colleague, and skilled heavy equipment mechanic, passed away peacefully at Parkway Health and Rehab after a sudden, and brief illness.

Dewey was born on October 23, 1958 in Provo, Utah to Joan Jacobsen and Dewey Brox Lund. However, Dewey spent his formative years living in Orem, Utah.

During his youth, Dewey had the opportunity to live in Venezuela, for approximately six years, as his father and grandfather lent their expertise to the building of the monumental Guri dam. This experience broadened Dewey's horizons and instilled in him a sense of resilience and adaptability that he carried throughout his life.

Upon returning to Utah, Dewey settled back in Orem and completed his education, graduating from Orem High School. Shortly after graduating, he met the love of his life, Sherry Lee Barber. Dewey and Sherry were married on December 29, 1979 in Orem, Utah. Their union blessed them with two beautiful children, Charlene Lee Lund and Dewey Daren Lund. In 2006 Dewey and Sherry built a home in Lehi, and resided there since.

Dewey's natural aptitude for mechanics led him to a career as a heavy equipment mechanic, where he quickly became recognized for his unparalleled knowledge and remarkable skill in building and repairing heavy machinery.

Dewey dedicated many years of his career to Wheeler Machinery Co. where he honed his craft and earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Later, he joined Hadco Construction, where he continued to excel, becoming an invaluable member of the team. Dewey will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his work and for his professional achievements.

Dewey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry Barber Lund, and his parents Dewey Brox Lund and Joan Jacobsen Lund Kofford.

Dewey is survived by his brother, Arnold Todd Lund, Eagle Mountain, Utah; his children, Charlene (William) Dansie, Salem, Utah; Dewey (Breanne) Daren Lund, South Weber, Utah; his six grandchildren, Alexa (Chase) Ellis, Shayli Dansie, Mikaylah Sulkey, Mikayla Dansie, Khloe Lund, and Kenedi Lund, and one great-grandchild Alena Ellis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Humane Society of Utah, in Dewey's name. As an animal lover, this cause was dear to his heart.

Dewey's family is deeply touched by the outpouring of support from the Hado Construction company and the group of Dewey's co-workers that came to help us in our time of need. And a special thank you to Tracy, whose unwavering presence and friendship is greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much for your help, love and support.

A celebration of Dewey's life will be held at the LDS Church Pavilion located at 1174 S 1700 W  Lehi, Utah on May 25th, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm, where friends and family will come together to honor his memory. May we find comfort in knowing that Dewey now rests in eternal peace, reunited with those he loves, that went before him.
