Doreen Fraley

Doreen was born in Toledo, Oregon to John and Catherine Holderbein. She was the fifth of their six children. Doreen came to California in her teens to live with her oldest sister in Pacific Grove. She graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1950 and soon after married Charles Fraley. They raised their family of four children in Pacific Grove.

Doreen was a dedicated stay-at-home mom who did the bookkeeping for Charlie’s business, Forest Hill Mobil & Auto Services. She was involved in the tennis community enjoying the association of many good friends throughout the years. She was known for a wicked forehand, her good humor and great cooking.

Doreen was a widow for almost 25 years after Charlie passed on their wedding anniversary, January 5, 2000. In 2022, Doreen left the Monterey Peninsula to live near her daughter in Gilroy. They relocated to Mapleton, Utah in 2024, where she died of natural causes.

Doreen is very much missed by her three daughters, Pamela Underwood of Mapleton, Utah; Karen Beard of Rancho Cordova, California; Tracy Russo, of Bakersfield, California; and her son, Charles Fraley, Jr. of Las Vegas Nevada.

Doreen was the proud grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 19 beautiful children.

A private family memorial will be held at San Carlos Cemetery in Monterey, California on June 16.
