Edward Lee Dickerson

May 17, 1943 — August 7, 2025

Edward “Lee” Dickerson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on August 7, 2025.

Born on May 17, 1943, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lee was the son of Leo Edward Dickerson and Madge Thrasher. As a young child Lee’s Father enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. During that time, Lee and his mother lived with his Aunt Beth and Uncle Leonard.

Lee grew up in Provo, Utah, near the State Hospital. He fondly recalled childhood days filled with baseball, horseback riding, and the typical mischief of young boys. He attended Maeser Elementary and Provo High School before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1961. While serving, he completed both his high school education and aircraft mechanic training.

On October 11, 1962, Lee married Karen Lassen in the Manti Utah Temple. Together, they had three children: Lisa Kaye, Todd L., and Kristen Lee. Their first home was in Merced, California, where Lee was stationed. In 1965, they moved to Spanish Fork, Utah. Their life was filled with

camping, hunting, fishing, dancing, and socializing with friends. Lee and Karen were married for 53 years until Karen’s passing on August 7, 2015, while they were camping—one of their favorite activities. Lee later married Ann Stallings in 2017; they later divorced.

Lee was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his belief that if something wasn’t done right the first time, it wasn’t worth doing. A man of many talents, he enjoyed passing on his knowledge and skills to those around him.

He began his professional life as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force. After his service, he became a Journeyman Carpenter through a local apprenticeship program, working in construction for over 20 years. He eventually rose to General Foreman for M.A. Mortenson Construction, overseeing the building of the Intermountain Power Plant in Delta, Utah.

When the construction industry slowed in the mid-1980s, Lee returned to his mechanical roots. He worked at Ken’s Service in Spanish Fork before opening his own shop, D&D Service, in Springville in 1995, which he ran for about 15 years until his retirement.

Lee had a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, and building custom rifles and woodworking projects. He was especially skilled in precision shooting and firearm craftsmanship. He also enjoyed puzzles, golfing, and playful water fights with his grandchildren.

Those who knew Lee knew he could be tough on the outside, but he had a heart of gold. He was always willing to help—whether it was a home project, car repair, or even chasing raccoons out of a shed. If you called, he came.

His greatest pride was his family. He loved to talk about his children and grandchildren and was deeply invested in their lives. He instilled in them a strong work ethic and a wide range of practical skills, leaving a legacy of love, learning, and craftsmanship.

Lee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served with his wife Karen as church service missionaries at the Lindon, UT Cannery.

Lee is survived by his children: Lisa Kaye (Kelly) Gordon and Todd L. (Julie) Dickerson; his sister Sue (Kevin) Draney; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren (soon to be 14). He was preceded in death by his wife Karen, daughter Kristen Lee, his parents, and his in-laws Harold and Nancy Lassen.

Lee’s life was defined by hard work, integrity, and devotion to his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but the lessons he taught and the love he shared will live on for generations.
