Erika Thorn

October 21, 1999 — March 8, 2019

Erika Nicole Thorn was born on the 21st of October in 1999 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, and she was the cutest baby girl. The first years of her life she lived with her immediate family in their home near the Provo river. Around 8 years old, her family moved to Springville, there, she blossomed and made so many friends that became as close as family, and we have our wonderful ward to thank for that.

During her younger years, she attended Ivy Hall Academy in Provo, and in 7th grade she started at Karl G. Maeser College Prep Academy. While at Maeser, she expanded and honed in on her love of drama and singing. In her senior year, she switched to Landmark and received her high school diploma.

Erika was an incredibly sweet, giving, and empathetic person. She never judged anyone; the only place she ever came from was a place of love and understanding. Throughout all her life, she was a bright light to all those around her. She had a beautiful smile that lit up every room and every heart around her. She was absolutely hilarious as well and could make anyone laugh. Her laugh was infectious, and it was almost impossible to be sad around her.

She did everything in her power to help those she loved. She was vibrant and unique. She rode her own frequency. She loved animals, cats especially. Her boyfriend, Alec, remembers a time when she accidentally sat on her cat Mango's tail and, to make up for it, immediately got him treats and a toy to play with.

Erika was so unbelievably talented at everything she did, even a moment after picking it up. She loved the arts, she had an incredible singing voice and stage presence, and loved to play guitar with her brother, Jeremy. She was amazing at crafts - she sewed, crocheted, painted, and just about everything in between. She could make the most wonderful pieces of art and cute little crafts in just a matter of hours. Her handmade gifts were unforgettable and something we have to hold onto in remembrance.

Erika taught us all so many things - how to be strong, how to be kind, and most importantly how to love unconditionally. We are forever grateful for the time, although brief, that we got to spend with her. She was a blessing to anyone who got to meet and know her special soul. Erika was beyond perfect, and no one can ever replace our sweet baby. Erika was our wild child, our "cazy eyika". She was an amazing granddaughter, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Grandpa Chuck wants the world to know that Erika will always be his pumpkin. She loved her grandparents and all of her family very much.

Erika is survived by her father Charlie Thorn, her mother Sheri Thorn, her older brother Drake Thorn, her older sister Trina Thorn, her older brother Jeremy Thorn; her grandpa Chuck Thorn, her grandpa Harold Halstenberg, her grandma Nancy Halstenberg; her aunts and uncles Linda Zeider, Craig Thorn, Pam Blake, Scott Halstenberg, Stacy Halstenberg; many loving cousins; her best friends Alec Hultz and Meagan Graham; and many other wonderful friends.

There is no way to put a person on paper, but we hope that reading this has brought up your own memories of our sweet Erika. She will be missed so deeply. We would like to give our sincere gratitude for the indescribable outpouring of support and love during this hard time. Thank you to our ward, our family, and lots of our amazing friends. We love you all.

Erika's viewing will be held Sunday, March 17th, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm at Spring Creek 7th Ward chapel (350 N 400 E, Springville, Utah), and the second viewing will be on Monday, March 18th, 2019 from 9:30am till 11am at the same location. The funeral services will begin at 11am.

Our sweet baby Erika Nicole Thorn will be forever in our hearts. We love you, we love you, we love you.
