Floyd Robertson was born December 9, 1935, in Wyandotte, California, to Julia Bean and Elvan Robertson, the last of eight children. He passed away July 7, 2026 in American Fork, Utah.
Floyd was raised in California, Washington, and Idaho, where became an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His Western roots also produced a life-long love of cowboy movies and John Wayne, which he channeled into an extensive collection of memorabilia. He graduated from high school in Yuba City, California, where he excelled in singing and athletics, including varsity football, captaining the basketball team, and State Shot Put Champ.
Floyd then enrolled in the United States Army in 1955 and served until 1959, where he earned the honor Most Outstanding Soldier in the Cycle. He continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1965. He continued his education and training with the International Accountants' Society where he achieved certification in accounting, and was also a licensed real estate agent and notary public. His career took him throughout Idaho and Utah, including work marketing and general design layout of industrial steel buildings.
All these professional pursuits were in service of family, which was his greatest pride and joy. He married Marilyn Louise Myers in 1955 and they had five children. They later divorced. He was devoted to his family and often worked two or three jobs to support them.
On November 14, 1998, Floyd married his eternal companion, LouAnne Bills. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 23, 2016. Together they have taken every opportunity to travel in their motorhome, host and dote on their family members, dance and dine together, socialize with their friends and neighbors, and love everyone in their sphere of influence. They split time between their mountain community in Summit Park, Utah, and the warm sun of Harrisburg, Utah. Most recently they resided in Salem, Utah and would still visit Harrisburg as often as they could.
Floyd was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and honored his testimony by living a good and honorable life. He found joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ and lived with integrity whether in his calling as Elders Quorum President or serving in the temple weekly. He was an ordained High Priest.
The Robertson family expresses heartfelt thanks to JoAnn Rawlins and other contributors for honoring Floyd's military service with a Quilt of Valor presented at a special family ceremony. They are also grateful to the Intermountain Hospice Care Team for their dedicated professional and emotional support. The team also took time to present Floyd with a quilt and other distinguished recognitions for his veteran service during a private ceremony in his home.
