James Vernard Brailsford, 84, of Springville, UT, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024.
Born in Provo, Utah, on August 15, 1940, Jim was a man of honor, a devoted family man, and an avid outdoorsman who cherished the simplicity and beauty of nature. Jim answered the call of duty, serving in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. Following his military tenure, Jim applied the same dedication and work ethic to his new family and career as an electrician for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he was well-respected for his integrity and skill. After he retired he would help family and friends all around with their electrical needs.
Jim's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He relished the times spent fishing, hunting, and later, traveling to explore the natural world he so deeply loved. His skillful hands were not only adept at the art of noodling fish but also at the workbench, where he crafted wood into functional art, a hobby that served as both a pastime and a gift to those he loved. One of dad's favorite movie stars was John Wayne. One of John's quotes hung on his living room wall. "Courage is being scared to death and saddling up anyway."
Left to honor Jim's memory are his beloved children, Vea Jean Denison, Forrest James Brailsford, and Lydia Ruth Tolman (Jeff) and daughter in-law Genny Messner. Also, one sister, Elsie Aston, and his life partner's (Elizabeth Sensenbough) daughter, Stephanie Outland (Jim). 7 grandchildren, TJ Coleman (Evan) and great-granddaughter Avery. Michael D Denison and great-grandkids, Zander and Zoie. Logan Briggs (Jeni) and great-grand sons, Ashlen and Lysander. Josh Brailsford and great-granddaughter's Alice and Kristie. Steven Brailsford. Nicholas (Crystal) Horsley and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth. Desirea Tolman. Last but not least many nieces and nephews.
They will forever cherish the silent lessons of love, perseverance, and the joy of a life lived with purpose that their father, sibling and uncle exemplified. To those who knew him well, he was a man of few words, but the looks he gave spoke volumes. The Brailsford family has entrusted Legacy Funerals and Cremations, located at 3595 N Main Street, Spanish Fork, UT 84660, with the arrangements. Jim's life, marked by quiet strength, service to his country, and devotion to his loved ones, will be commemorated in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
