"Jim the Barber" 1938 - 2022
James "Jim" Brooks age 84 passed away suddenly, and unexpectedly in his home Sunday April 24,2022.
Jim was born in Prescott, AZ to Mildred Lillian Jackson and James Warden Brooks on March 4,1938. The family moved many times before finally settling down in 1949 in Henderson, Nevada.
Jim displayed an interest in gardening and talking to people from an early age including helping the neighbors plant their flower beds on his way home from school. Jim continued his education in Henderson and graduating from Basic High School in 1956. He then joined the Army National Guard and served Honorably 1955-1964, and working at the Nevada Test Site from 1961-1965.
Jim had decided to pursue a career in Cosmetology and become a Barber. He was accepted to Barber School in Arizona. This is the time he Married his beautiful bride Carol Louisa Munford on August 14,1965 in the St. George LDS Temple. They started their lives in Phoenix Arizona and once graduated they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to start their family. Here they were blessed with four children, Derek Warden, Danielle Jeannine, Brenda Lynn and Hilary Ann. Here is where is opened his hair salon "Advanced Hair Designs".
In 1982 Jim moved the family to Spring Lake (Payson) Utah. Where he taught his kids the value of hard work, how to haul hay, gardening and taking care of animals on a small farm.
He opened his Barbershop, "Jim's" downtown Springville at 268 S. Main, and where he developed life long friendships with the people of Springville. After growing out of the shop downtown, he opened Jim's Hair Emporium on the north end of town and earned the nickname "Jim the Barber".
He is survived by his wife Carol Brooks of Spring Lake (Payson), Utah, along with his children Derek (Laurie) Brooks, Danielle (Roger) Luke, Brenda (Mike) Hall, Hilary Lillie, 9 Grandkids, and his sisters JoAnna Leonard and Janice Sutton.
He will be greatly missed. Please join us in a Celebration of life Sunday evening 5-7 pm and Monday 10-10:45 am. A Funeral will follow Monday 11am-12pm pm at the Spring Lake LDS Chapel, 12625 Spring Lake Rd, Payson, Utah 84651
