Joyce M Tanner

July 8, 1927 — February 9, 2026

Joyce Ilene Maland Tanner, age 98, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, in Moab, Utah with her daughter at her side.

Joyce was born July 8, 1927, in Spanish Fork to Ernest Maland and Iva Mae Huff Maland. She was the second daughter and grew up surrounded by her siblings and close-knit community she would cherish through her life. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School and remained proud of her hometown throughout her life.

She married her beloved husband, Glen Tanner, and together they shared 57 wonderful years filled with love, faith, and adventure. Glen and Joyce were sealed in the Provo Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 2, 1995. They served together in the temple for many years, an experience that brought them some of their greatest happiness. Joyce was a devoted wife and a deeply loving mother to her daughters, Joylyn and Tamara.

For 15 years Joyce worked as a bookkeeper at J.C. Penney, a role she deeply enjoyed, and was known for her careful mind, dependable nature, and warm spirit. She loved traveling with her husband, creating embroidery and crochet pieces, and working with ceramics. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She treasured time spent at the senior center and, above all, cherished every moment with her family.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Joylyn Johnson (Karl Tangren); grandchildren Stacey Draper (Mark Draper), Justin Johnson (Becky Johnson), Gina Snow (Jason Sorensen), Meaghan Barney, and Jed Barney; ten great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great-grandchildren. Her posterity is a reflection of a life well lived and love shared across generations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Tanner; daughter Tamera Barney; grandson Shaun Johnson; and great-granddaughter Shauntae Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21st, with a viewing from 9:30–10:30 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 505 E 900 N, Spanish Fork, UT 84660. The family invites those who knew Joyce to celebrate her life and the many ways she brightened the lives of her family and friends.

Joyce will be remembered for her steady love, gentle presence, and the enduring example she set for her family. Though she is deeply missed, her influence and spirit live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
