Kathryn Degn Black

Kathryn "Kass" Black was reunited with the love of her life, George, on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Kass was born on March 17, 1940, to Fritz and Thelma Evans Degn. She spent her early years in Price before moving to Springville in 1950.

Kass was a woman of many talents, but her life was defined by love. Her and George had a love story for the ages. They started dating in the 7th grade and married just three months after graduating from Springville High School in 1958. They spent 55 years together, enjoying their last years at the ranch, their own version of heaven on earth.

Kass will be missed and remembered by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her children; Kris (Chris,) Fritz (Peggy,) Ang (Cheryl.) Grandchildren; Max Reid, George (Abby) Reid, Stephanie (Cam) Wright, Nicole (Blake) Rindlisbacher. Great grandchildren; Milly, Hollis, Rumer "Cookie," Fayble "Cocoa," Alex and Caleb. Brother, Butch (Debbie) Degn and brother-in-law Elden Nielson, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Kass was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Penny Nielson. A private family service will be held at a later date.
