Laurel Drake

Our sweet daughter and sister, Laurel Joanne Drake, passed away suddenly on May 22, 2014. Laurel was born on June 13, 1996 to Stephen Eugene and Lynda May Riley Drake. She is survived by her parents, Stephen and Lynda; sister, Marissa Drake; brothers, Christopher and Connor Drake, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who she loved dearly. She was especially close to her cousin, Spencer Chugg, and her best friend Courtney Dye.
Laurel was a sweet, caring girl who loved animals. Throughout her short life, she had several hamsters: Pal, Manny, Molly, and Ranger. She also loved her cat, Scampers and the family dog, Toby.
She was always extremely loyal to those she loved and found enjoyment in the small things like getting lunch with her sister, seeing a movie with her mom, playing video games, or just watching a show together with her family. She loved family activities at Grandpa Drake's with all her cousins. Every holiday, she would ask, "Are we going to Grandpa's today?"
She also loved special family events like the Cousins Camp at Aunt Cathy Witt's, the annual Drake Family New Year's Day party (with Aunt Marilyn Dahl's Christmas Bingo), and Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving - always with her siblings and cousins.
Laurel was a special friend to handicapped children. She was a peer tutor to the special needs children at Provo High School and enjoyed working with them.
She attended Provo High School as long as her health would permit and was working on her G.E.D through Adult Education.
Our family will miss her feisty personality and her loving heart. She left us too early and we will always love her.
A viewing will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at the Provo Parkway chapel (2876 West 1390 North, Provo Utah) prior to services beginning at 3:00 pm.
