LeAnn Eliason

LeAnn Shafer Eliason passed away in Springville, Utah 9 June 2026, after a life rich in love, faith, family, friendships, and adventure. Ever the valiant warrior, she endured Parkinson's Disease to the end, with her characteristic grace and dignity. 

As the first of Carl Dean Shafer and Jeanetta Minnie Day Shafer's three children, LeAnn grew up on the family farm near Lucerne, Indiana. Her 4-H poultry and egg judging teamwork won her a college scholarship. 

At Purdue University, she began lifelong friendships in the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and earned a degree in Home Economics, the subject she went on to teach at Long Beach High School in California and in Ackerly, Texas. She also had some exciting experiences as an airline flight attendant. 

She serendipitously met and married a dashing U.S. Air Force aviator. Together, they embarked on what became, through God's grace and their loving efforts, a happy and enduring marriage that begat two sons-who joined them in a life of living in, and traveling to, many US regions and several countries abroad. 

LeAnn is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Steve. She is survived by husband Dan Eliason; sons Eric (Stephanie) and Dale (Aimee); grandchildren Shelby, Caleb, Andrea, Whitney, Noah, Samuel; and great grandchildren Lucas, Alexandra, Charlotte, Lily and Kate. 

A careful and lifelong genealogist, LeAnn delighted that her work helped forge connections between past generations and her posterity. She did an immense amount of research, even publishing a book on her ancestors. One of her quotes in the book is "A life well-lived is all about love. Love of family, love of friends, love of God. I have lived a life filled with love." 

A private cremation rather than a traditional burial service was chosen. At some later date there will be a small service at the family pavilion site of the Provo cemetery. 

In keeping with LeAnn's last expressed desires, those wishing to give gifts in her honor, might wish to donate to Parkinson's research so that future Parkinson's sufferers and their families lives might be enhanced.
