Marion Searle

October 14, 1939 — December 17, 2018

Marion Cowan Searle, our loving mother and grandmother, age 79, of Payson, Utah, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, from several chronic health issues. Marion was born in Spring Lake, Utah October 14, 1939. She was the third daughter and fifth child of six children of George Marlin "Mike" and Viola Celia Cowan. Marion was the darling of the family with her head full of bouncy ringlets. For 25 years she was married to Glen C. Searle, and together they had 3 children, Kerry Searle, Brent Searle, and Janalee (Steven) Banks. Marion later married S.D.Nielsen, and they later divorced.

Young Marion was an expert seamstress and won many awards for her skills. Janalee never had a store purchased dress until she was 7 years old. Marion worked for years as a typist for the Spanish Fork Press and the Payson Chronicle. She went on to work at Utah County Health Department and later, Utah State Adult Probation and Parole where she was an office manager. Her final work years were spent in California where she worked for Mercy Hospital.

Marion was very supportive of her children and grandchildren throughout her life. She was a 4-H leader and helped out at rodeo and play days whenever the need arose. After her children were raised, she continued to support the grandchildren at their sporting events. Marion was an excellent bowler and traveled widely for tournaments. She was very proud to be in an All-Scratch League with a 169 scratch average.

After retiring she was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Spring Lake Camp. She also spent many hours crocheting blankets. Anyone who knew Marion received a blanket from her, sometimes even several.

She lived a full and happy life. She will always be in our thoughts and we will carry her heart in our hearts. She is survived by her son Brent Searle and daughter Janalee (Steven) Banks, one sister Zola VanZeban, five grandsons--Todd, Mitch, Jacob(Pam) Banks; Donald Cherry; Lem(Alyse) Searle, one grandaughter--Hanna Searle, and two great-grandchildren--Alyna Rue Banks and Dean LemR Searle. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son--Kerry Glen Searle, three brothers--Frank Cowan, Dan Cowan, and Michael Cowan, one sister Nelda Owen, and two grandchildren--Courtland Searle and Brady Banks.
