Mark Kenneth Beals

Mark Beals, age 70, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at his home in Santaquin, Utah, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Mark was born on June 21, 1955, in South Bend, Indiana, to Loren Beals and Thelma Hedger Beals. He graduated from Kokomo High School in 1973. On December 21, 1974, in Kokomo, Indiana, he married the love of his life, Nancy Southerland. Together they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family.

In 1979, Mark moved his family to Provo, Utah, where he discovered a deep love for the mountains and found the perfect place to raise his four children. Mark dedicated 28 years of service to the Utah County Sheriff’s Department, where he served in many roles including patrol, detective, SWAT team member, firearms instructor, sergeant, and lieutenant. He was respected for his leadership, courage, and dedication to protecting others.

Mark cherished time with his family above all else. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and the joy he found in life’s simple pleasures—especially time spent with loved ones and driving his prized lime green Challenger.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Nancy Beals; his four children: Brandon (Tiffanie) Beals, Shawna (Scotty) Hart, Kyle (Julie) Beals, and Sarah Beals; his grandchildren: Branson (Erica), Caden, Jaxon, Talon, Maverick, Kanon, Barrick, Ryker, and McKenna. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.

A Viewing and Celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 28, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Christian Life in Payson, Utah.

Mark will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
