Mike passed peacefully away the morning of July 4, 2025 in his home in Spanish Fork from the Complications of Parkinson's Disease. He loved this holiday and it was fitting that he gained his independence from this mortal life on that day.
He was born June 22, 1951 in Provo UT to Pete and Ruthella Christensen. Mike was raised in Provo where he had a wonderful childhood finding many adventures along the Provo River. He graduated from Provo High School in 1969.
He met and married Karma R Johnson on February 7, 1975. They were later Sealed in the Provo Temple on May 22, 1993. They moved to Spanish Fork where he and Karma lived for the last 50 years on 1500 E. Mike had many jobs in his youth. He would randomly tell you “I used to do that when I was younger” His favorite job as a youth was delivering the Tribune. He would deliver his papers early in the morning and fish his way back home, where he would cook breakfast in the backyard. He was a Painter, a manager for Mr. G's Gas n Goodies. He was a "jack of all trades" Karma would often say when someone needed help "My Mikey can do anything".
In 1976 he began working for the Rio Grande Railroad, where he started as a track maintenance worker and worked his way up to a Conductor. He worked there until they bought his job out in 1992 and he went back to school where earned his Journeyman Electrician license. He also tried his hand at selling Cornwell Tools. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2011 which was to the point he could no longer work as an Electrician. He retired because of his disability. Mike was never one to sit still. So he then got one of his favorite jobs working for the Nebo School district as a Bus Technician. He loved working with the children on the bus and made many friendships with his coworkers.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Where he mostly worked with the youth. He was a Scout Master for well over 20 years which he loved. He loved the outdoors where he spent many happy hours with his scouts. Where he taught many the boys the skills they would need to become a good man. He had many other callings but his heart was always with the youth.
Mike loved life and loved doing fun and interesting things. He loved the outdoors, riding bikes, camping, hiking, golf, being with family and friends, playing cards, cooking dutch oven dinners and desserts, vacations, and more. But his great love was cars. He owned and enjoyed many cars in his lifetime. After retiring he spent many hours restorting his 49 Ford. He started the Old Gents Car Club where he made many friends going to different car shows where he won a number of trophies. Mike loved his family and loved when his children and grandchildren would come over and we would have wonderful parties, sleepovers, bike rides, putting up the teepee on the 24th, waterfights, laughing, games, joking together, dinners and just having fun.
Survivors include his wife Karma (Johnson) Christensen, daughter Heather (Brian) Allred, Son Nicholas (Amberly Aird) and his son Kurt. He had 14 wonderful grandchildren and 2 sweet little great grandchildren.
