Mickelyn Asay Christensen

January 8, 1951 - September 4, 2021

Age 70 years

Our mom, grandmother, sister and friend to many, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021, to be reunited with the love of her life. She was born to Ellis and Shirley Asay on January 8, 1951 in Richfield, Utah. Mickelyn graduated from Provo High School. While in high school she met Leon Christensen and they began dating. Their love grew and they were married on September 13, 1969 and were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City temple on July 13, 1977. They had a beautiful marriage, and created a wonderful life together. They will be celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary together in heaven.

Mickelyn was a loving mother with unwavering support for her 5 children and this love was extended to her 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She adored them all and was so proud of each of them. If you knew her you probably know how loyal she was to her family and friends. She would attend every function she possibly could to watch and show her support. She made sure she was the loudest in the crowd so you had no doubt if she was there or not.

She had a deep love for all things sports, and rarely missed watching the games of her favorite teams. She looked forward to family camping trips to Richfield and the Sand Dunes. Her favorite part of camping was sitting around the campfire telling stories and sharing memories. In her opinion, "no one could build a fire quite like Stewart".

Mickelyn was a natural caretaker. She spent her working years serving others in many different ways. She enjoyed working with her mother as well as in her own business making women beautiful through her talents as a beautician. She also spent several years being a lunch lady serving the kids in her community.

The last few years have been a battle with her health, one that she fought so hard to win. As a family we are so proud of how graceful she handled the trials she faced in her last few years of life. We want to give a special thanks to her granddaughter Kylee Christensen and daughter-in-law Heather Christensen for their love and compassion in caring for mom for the last year.

She is survived by her five children: Brian L Christensen (Shauna), Kevin Christensen, Eric Christensen (Amy), Cami Bird (Stewart), Daniel Christensen, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren along with brothers, Doyle, Ken and David Asay.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Christensen, parents Ellis and Shirley Asay, grandson Westin Christensen and great grandson Chanse.

To celebrate her life there will be a viewing held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm at 678 South 950 West Springville, Utah 84663. Graveside services will follow at the Provo City Cemetery. Live streaming of the services will be provided on Legacy Funerals and Cremation Facebook page.
