Raymond Thorn passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in Provo, UT.
He was born June 1, 1939 in Provo, UT. The youngest child of Vernile Erastus Thorn and Bessie Whitney. He attended school in the Springville area through 8th grade. He served in the United States Army. He was introduced to Della May Madsen through a mutual friend in September 1967. They were married three weeks later on October 13, 1967. Raymond and Della were blessed with four children.
Raymond was a self-taught "Jack of All Trades". He was a mechanic, raised rabbits, gardener/farmer, lapidary, and he took some courses in personal income tax. There are many other things he did. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Della, son Jacob (Jake) Wilford Thorn, sister Alice Valene Thorn Bateman, brothers Vern Erwin Thorn and Eugene Whitney Thorn. He is survived by three of his children, daughters Ann Marie Thorn Melo and Alice Joann Thorn Lewis (Tim Lewis), son Rex Whitney Thorn, sister Claudia Joanne Thorn Marchant, five grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held, for both Raymond and Jake, on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 12pm at the Lakeside 6th Ward, 102 North 2400 West, Provo, UT with a luncheon afterwards.
