We honor the life and legacy of a respected veteran, born on April 24, 1947, in Mesa, Arizona, to Junius and Bernice Bowers. His twenty years of dedicated service in the Army stand as a testament to his unwavering commitment to his country. His passing on May 3, 2024, at the Bennion Veteran’s Home in Payson, Utah leaves a void in the hearts of those he touched.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bowers, his children, Rob (Mindy) Bowers, Norman (Kristie) Bowers, Natalie Bowers, Kristina (Craig) Barger, Michelle Hale, and Johnnie Walker, and his grandchildren: Robbie (Emily) Bowers, Johanna Bowers, Dallin Bowers, Emily Bowers, Daniel Bowers, Sharon Bowers, Joseph Bowers, Tyler (Madison) DeLisle, Dalton DeLisle, Parker (Annette) DeLisle, Shianne (Carlos), Harley Webber, and 6 great grandsons. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Delight, his brothers, David and John, his sister, Karen, and his granddaughter, Allison. His life was a beacon of courage and strength, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
In addition to his remarkable life story, he distinguished himself in the security and medical forces of the United States Army, with 20 years of service. His service in army intelligence and army medical core reflected his deep commitment to safeguarding the freedoms and security of our nation. He served 7 years in different areas of Germany. His contributions to the military were not just a job but a calling, one that he answered with honor and distinction.
He earned the Meritorious Service Award along with many other awards.
In addition to his remarkable military career and family life, his favorite past times were coaching basketball, playing softball, watching BYU sports, rockhounding, attending the temple and traveling to many different countries and states.
We greatly appreciate the compassionate care and services rendered by the Bennion Veteran’s Home in Payson, Utah and by Bristol Hospice of Utah.
Funeral services will be held in Clay Springs, Arizona on Saturday May 11, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 5150 Highway 260, Clay Springs, Arizona.
A viewing will at 9 AM, services start at 10 AM followed by a graveside service immediately following at the Clay Springs Cemetery.
