Burnet, Texas

Russell Owen Gagon, age 62, of Burnet Texas was a beloved Father, Husband, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle & Friend who unexpectedly passed away on January 5th, 2024. Russ was born June 4th, 1961, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He grew up in Salem Utah and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1979.

Russ was a man of many trades, his first job was at PDM Steel Company, then worked with his brother Norm at Rocky Mountain Fabrication. He took many jobs on the road and worked in Arizona, California and Utah. He spent many years at BMT in Orem Utah and Modern Welding in Florida. He was a master welder and even competed in welding competitions across the United States, winning many times.

Russ had many hobbies and interests. Hunting, fishing and creating are at the top of that list. He had a deer lease in Texas where he spent most of his time, hunting deer and hogs & building deer blinds and feeders with many great friends who loved him dearly. When he wasn't hunting you could find him making potato cannons, marble guns, sling shots or perfecting his spears, he was so talented. He enjoyed setting up targets in his backyard and shooting his bow or his marble gun. He was extremely creative and would always find a way to build exactly what he needed- he was a master tinkerer and loved creating things for his happy place. He loved playing his harmonica and guitar and jamming to his favorite tunes. He was most proud of his children and had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren who are going to miss him immensely.

Russ married Laura Lazenby in 1984 and later divorced. He married Melinda Lollar in 2001 and lived in Clermont Florida until they moved to Texas in 2010 where they currently resided.

Russ is survived by his wife, Melinda; daughters, Teisha (Aaron)Butler, Tembre (Garrett)Baker, Dusty (Matthew) Croft. sons; Daben (Heather) Steele and Dane (Farrah) Schielke. And 10 grandchildren whom he adored.
His Father, Jerald Gagon; sisters, Sandy (Duane) Hill, Maureen (Dave) Gren, Janus Gagon and Laura (James) Thompson.

Russ is preceded in death by his mother, Lavon (Hansen) Cloward and his best friend and brother Norman Gagon.

Words cannot express how much we will miss this man. He was so many wonderful things to so many people. A special thanks to the Winder Family & all his friends at the hunting lease for all their love and generosity during this difficult time. We know Russ had a very special place in his heart for all of them. "Yeah Buddy"
