Verlin Roy Nicholes

December 14, 1936 — May 17, 2024

Verlin Nicholes, aka Nick, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, in Lindon, Utah, at 87 due to natural causes.

Verlin was born on December 14, 1936, in Orem, Utah, to Leroy and Emma Nicholes, who instilled a deep sense of faith and family.

Verlin's journey began in Orem, where he attended Lincoln High School and excelled in track and football. His commitment to service led him to the United States Navy, where he served with honor. Following his military service, Verlin dedicated two years to a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Denmark, Copenhagen Mission. He later served several missions with his sweetheart Fran, demonstrating his deep-rooted faith.

Afterward, he attended Brigham Young University, where he met the love of his life, Fran.

Verlin and Fran married in the Manti Temple on October 12, 1962. Because of their entrepreneurial spirit, they moved a few times before settling into their long-time home in Lindon and raising their four children there.

Verlin worked in the Real Estate Division as a property manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for nearly 30 years, managing temple construction, General Authority housing, and many Church historical sites. Through their entrepreneurial spirit, he and Fran owned various businesses, including a restaurant, shoe store, real estate, fast food, retail clothing, and rototilling. His work was marked by integrity, diligence, spirituality, and commitment to his faith.

Verlin was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Lee, and his loving wife, Fran, of 52 years. Verlin is survived by his sister Beverly and his children: Marc (Shitomi), Jana (Jared), Lance (Jodi), and Eric (Kate). He has 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Verlin's zest for life was truly infectious, especially when it came to his love for travel and the great outdoors. He and Fran embarked on countless adventures, exploring the world and creating cherished memories. Their adventurous spirit was a shining example of courage and inspiration.

By Verlin's wishes, a 'Celebration of Life' visitation open house will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Lindon Center Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 731 East Center St. This will be an opportunity to share memories, offer condolences, and celebrate Verlin's life. Family and friends will surround Verlin's interment at the Lindon, Utah cemetery.

Verlin's life was a testament to faith, love, and service. Through his service, he made a significant impact on the community. We will deeply miss him, and he will forever be remembered by all fortunate enough to know him.
